Is the a visual cultural collapse happening right now?

Of course, the visual culture is collapsing.

What is trend right now is not new. Never.

Today, people just dig up things from 30 or 40 years ago, change them very slightly, and sell and consume them as if they were brand new.

In other words, it's like this. Imagine a singer who rides roller skates in Sinatra's suit, Elvis Presley's hairstyle, and composes an electronic version of John Denver's songs. People will go crazy.

Where the hell are the new things in 2022? People aren't crazy about the new, they're just crazy about the unfamiliar. Marketers never miss it. Everything is just a mix of things in the garage.

The success of marketers in this way has a huge effect on designers and artists as well. Everyone is just trying to refer to existing things rather than trying something new.

While in this art school, I have very few memories of seeing students doing experiments and trying to create new visuals. We are no longer willing to take risks. People always have told me to check out Behance and Pinterest when they need 'Creativity'.

Now people don't try new things because they don't have to. We need to create an environment where designers and artists get suffer if they don't try something new. There is a very easy way, nuclear warfare, but I'm also a little worried about the percentage of surviving. So, I thought about an alternative and promising way to be alive.

The first way is to destroy the education system. Ironically, in fact, education is already in the process of being destroyed. Perhaps if we don't do anything, education will collapse. Our diploma will be a piece of paper. The University is focused only on making money and does not try to improve the quality of education. The government focuses on the employment rate indicator rather than education progress. In this environment, professors want their students to graduate quickly and find employment rather than students' actual growth. Under these conditions, there is no point in getting a higher education. It simply fills the level that the corporation wants, and by the time we realize it, it will already be too late. We must create a new way of the education system. Just as the university system was created out of nothing a thousand years ago, we also need to create a new education system that is free from the government and marketing. Surely there will be people in all parts of society who have such a sense of this problem. We need to bring these people together and create a new education system. We need to destroy the old system and build proper education and research is possible and create a new type of education.

In A Clockwork Orange, teenagers are described as demons. However, I thought of it as a metaphoric expression of the old generation's view of the new generation. So, in the end, it shows the process in which a new generation loses individuality through education, violence, or drugs, and is transferred to the old generation in an enslavement state.

This oppression is also described in 'Blade Runner' and 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' If they do not pass the test, they cannot even survive, and the only thing they can do is just hide from society by grouping them together.

The same situation appears in 1984, and most of the oppressed had amplified in violence and sexual desire.

On the other hand, Brave New World shows a society where such oppression does not exist and what a world where no one feels pain will be like. In such a well-ordered society, no one feels pain, and no one expresses their individuality within a group. It's not that the people want to show their individuality but can't show it, it's that they just don't feel the need to show it at all.

2001 A Space Odyssey gives the simple process of development of civilization. The scene where the leg bones in the air transform into a spaceship is a masterpiece as the professor said last week. I thought that very few apes were the first to pick up leg bones. However, the behavior of that few, of the minority, that is hesitant, disliked, or feared creates rifts. And it completely changes the future.

In the previous movies and novels, we can see a lot of different kinds of cracks. But human society wants to seal those rifts and pretend they didn't exist because humans are afraid of what they don't understand. Ultimately, I think the future will depend on how far the energy in these cracks gets out of control and into the world.
